Agate

Name derived from the river Achates in Sicily. Agate is the stone that was used to make the ancient egyptian scarrabs. It is one of the oldest good luck and healing stones.

Mined from: Black Forest, Saxony Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, USA, Indian Peninsula

Colors: Usually arranged in layers in multiple stripes going from reddish to brown or gray/blue to beige

Alexandrite

Named after the Russian Tsar, Alexander II, it is one of the rarest gemstones. It's color changing property makes it a gem that well sought after.

Chemical Composition: BeAl2O4 (part the chrysoberyl family)
Colors: green/red, gray, greenish. Depending on the light, the gemstone changes colors
